No Easy Way

Yesterday, my Hodgegirl went for a PET/CT (Positron Emission Tomography/Computerized Tomography) scan. Like anyone in this situation, we had hoped that all the cancer activity would be gone after the 4th chemotherapy. But just like an antagonistic character in a movie, it just refuses to die. Sure, the mass is getting smaller and the cancer activity greatly reduced but it’s still there. With this result, one school of thought is to move on to radiation therapy while another suggests that 2 more chemotherapy cycles are needed before radiotherapy.

After numerous consultations, we’re inclined to go with the extra chemo. As a consequence, Hodgegirl is upset and frustrated. Whatever we decide, though, it seems that there’s just no easy way to go through this.
